BJ Habibie Laid to Rest in TMP Kalibata, Next to Wife

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The third Indonesian President Bacharuddin Jusuf Habibie or BJ Habibie is buried today, Thursday, September 12, at the National Heroes Cemetery or TMP Kalibata, South Jakarta. He is laid to rest next to his wife, Hasri Ainun Besari.
The funeral procession starts at 01:40 p.m. as his body arrived, accompanied by mournful drums and Islamic dhikr “la ilaha illallah.” Habibie is buried next to his wife.
Attended the funeral are President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Vice President Jusuf Kalla, Home Affairs Ministry, the sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and son Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, and Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto.
Based on Tempo observation, the cemetery is flocked by people willing to witness the funeral process. They start to crowd the place from 10 a.m. The area is also packed with reporters covering the funeral process of the man born in Parepare, South Sulawesi.
BJ Habibie passed away on Wednesday, September 11, at 06:03 p.m. after receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of Gatot Subroto Army Hospital (RSPAD), Central Jakarta since Monday for declining organ function and heart failure. He was 83.
