PA 212 to Hold Rally in Front of MK Building, Rizieq Instruction

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The 212 Alumni Association (PA 212) stated that they will stage a demonstration during the course of the election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court (MK). The demonstration, which will be labelled as "212 Grand Gathering" will be conducted on June 18, 2019, and from June 25 until June 28, 2019.

"Yes, it is correct," said PA 212 General Secretary Bernard Abdul Jabbar on Monday, June 17, 2019.

In accordance with the Constitutional Court's schedule, the gathering will be held when the MK hold the judges assembly discussion on June 25 until June 27, and during the verdict reading on June 28, 2019.

Based on the gathering invitation, which has been confirmed by Bernard, the PA 212 will held the event in front of the MK office, at the National Monument, and at the Arjuna Wiwaha roundabout on Jalan Merdeka Barat. For the peak of the event, PA 212 will hold a mass Friday prayer on June 28, 2019.

The series of events are intended to safeguard the election dispute trial, which has been initiated by presidential election pair Prabowo Subianto and Sandiaga Uno. "The intention is the same, to safeguard MK’s trial," Bernard said.

Previously, Prabowo had prohibited his supporters to hold any demonstration during the presidential election dispute trial in MK. Prabowo said that there are delegates who will be accompanying the legal team during the trial. In addition, Prabowo said it will be best to not hold any demonstration to prevent provocations and false accusation.

Bernard on the other hand, had previously stated that PA 212 prefers to comply with instructions from Rizieq Shihab compared to Prabowo.

Bernard added that the decision to carry out with the action was made after receiving instruction from Rizieq Shihab. "Yes we did [receive instructions], a couple of days ago," he said.
