TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An unfortunate event was recently experienced by widely-known Indonesian band Sheila on 7 during their performance at the Farmasi Cup 2018 that was held at the Mandala Krida, Yogyakarta on Saturday, December 22, 2018.
The band that is led by vocalist Duta was abruptly stopped by police personnel that climbed on stage after their performance had exceeded the agreed time. This moment was recorded in its entirety by an audience member, which eventually went viral in social media platforms.
Asked about this incident, the band’s bassist Adam who also works as the band’s manager recalled in spite; “The event on December 22 right? We were performing and police suddenly climbed on stage, maybe they wanted to jam together,” he said in a telephone interview on Wednesday, December 26.
Furthermore, Adam said that the incident was preventable if authorities had a little bit of tolerance. “They were arrogant and it’s an abuse of authority. From my point of view, a partnership involves tolerating a number of elements that may come.”
He further implied that Sheila on 7 is a band that often tolerates a delayed rundown, especially stage performances and maintains that there are no event rundowns that go 100 percent as planned.
Back in 2015, Sheila on 7 experienced a similar incident while they were performing at an event entitled The 90's Festival in Bandung. The band was forced to go off stage by police personnel that also raided the stage in the middle of a performance.
