13 Police HQ Prioritized to Secure Xmas, New Year Celebration

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian National Police had prepared 94,946 personnel to secure Christmas and 2019 New Year celebration. The officers would be mostly assigned in 13 regional police headquarters (Polda).
“A total of 69,080 personnel to be deployed in 13 top priority areas, while the other 25,866 personnel in another 21 Polda,” said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo in the Police Headquarter in South Jakarta, Wednesday, November 28.
Dedi mentioned the 13 top priority Polda were North Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, Metro Jaya, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, Bali, East Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, Maluku, and Papua.
According to Dedi, the 13 regions were set as the priority considering the number of Christians and churches which required a large amount of security personnel. Besides, the police had analyzed the traffic flow during the Christmas and New Year celebration. “We anticipate the homecoming flow in Jakarta to East Java and also Sumatra,” he noted.
Meanwhile, Bali province was prioritized due to many tourists arrivals from domestic and global to celebrate New Year’s Eve.
Other than gearing up for the security measure, National Police also anticipate terrorism act. Thus, the police had mapped points that prone to public order disturbance during the Christmas and New Year celebration.
