TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Transportation Safety Commission (KNKT) would release a preliminary report on the Lion Air JT 610 crash on November 28-29.
“Based on ICAO annex, a preliminary report must be issued a month after the incident occurs,” said KNKT head Soerjanto Tjahjono in the Transportation Ministry office, Jakarta, Tuesday, November 12.
ICAO aforementioned is the international civil aviation organization.
Soerjanto said the report would contain multiple factual data related to the crash without analysis and conclusion statement included. He ensured most of the data collected thus far would be listed in the release which would be later published via the internet to be openly accessed by the public.
At present, KNKT was still drawing up strategies to find the missing cockpit voice recorder (VCR) of the PK-LQP airplane’s black box. The Boeing 737 Max 8 operated by Lion Air crashed into waters of Tanjung Pakis, Karawang, West Java on Monday, October 29, 2018, after it went off the radar. The agency succeeded to find and download data of flight data recorder (FDR) black box.
Other than data from the black box, KNKT has obtained various findings, including results of a special audit carried by the Transportation Ministry. The ministry’s newly-inaugurated director-general of Air Transportation Polana Banguningsih said a special inspection had been done on October 30 until November 2 in Lion Air Operation Center and its workshop in Batam.
“It aims to ensure that Lion Air and Batam Aero Technic meet the standard operation procedure of air transportation,” said Polana, adding that the result had been submitted to KNKT to be used as the basic study on the cause of the crash.
