Basarnas Deploy Four SAR Teams to Evacuate Lion Air Aircraft

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Lion Air aircraft with a route Jakarta-Pangkal Pinang that went missing was found plunged into waters in Tanjung Karawang, West Java, boarding 189 passengers including the cabin crew. The Search and Rescue teams from four regions were deployed for the evacuation process.
According to the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), Muhammad Sayugi, the four SAR teams were from Bandung, Jakarta, Cirebon, and Lampung. The team would soon arrive in Tanjung Karawang waters.
A total of 160 personnel were currently heading there using the boat. “The Jakarta SAR team is the closest one from the aircraft location,” said Syaugi in a press conference, Monday, Oct. 29.
In addition to personnel, Basarnas deployed three boats and one helicopter to help the searching. Sayugi hoped the more teams, the quicker evacuation process can be run.

A Lion Air aircraft lost contact with air traffic controller this morning, Oct 29, at 06:33 a.m. AirNav Indonesia Corporate Secretary Didiet K. S. Radityo confirmed the news.
“Based on the controller report in JATSC, a Lion Air aircraft JT 610 lost contact this morning,” said Didiet in a phone call with Tempo.
The aircraft with a tail number JT 610 took off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport Jakarta at 06:20 a.m. and was scheduled to land in Pangkal Pinang Airport, Bangka Belitung Province at 07:20 a.m. As many as 178 of 189 passengers are adults, one child, two babies, and two pilot and five cabin crews.
Directorate General of Air Transportation spokesperson Sindu Rahayu said the last coordinate of Lion Air aircraft with a register number PK-LQP was seen at 05 46.15 S - 107 07.16 E.
