TEMPO.CO, Bandung - The local committee for the Joint Entrance Test for State Universities (SBMPTN) in Bandung introduced an alternative way to take the exam. The participants can use their Android smartphones or tablets to register and participate in the official test.
At the moment, online registrations and test are limited to 1,000 people from across Indonesia. However, accepted participants would have to partake the test at the University of Padjadjaran (Unpad) in Jatinangor, Sumedang.

“There are two locations, at the Medical Faculty and the Nursing Faculty,” said Bandung SBMPTN deputy chief committee II Arry Bainus on Wednesday, April 18.
According to Arry Bainus, who is also Unpad Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, the Android-based test is the first time implemented at the SBMPTN test. “If this one works out without glitches, it will be developed and implemented in other places,” he said.
UNPAD adopted a similar method at a government employee entrance test in Tangerang. Despite meeting several participants that were technologically illiterate, Arry said that participants would eventually get used to this modern way of taking a test.
Other requirements besides registering, participants would also have to link their phone’s IMEI number. The Android-based SBMPTN test registration period will be opened on April 18-27.
