TEMPO.CO, Bali - During his speech at the 2018 Indonesia-Africa Forum, Vice President Jusuf Kalla compared the African continent with the fictional state of Wakanda, featured in the movie Black Panther.

"I'm reminded of the movie Black Panther and the fictional country Wakanda," said the Indonesian Vice President during the two-day event at Bali’s Nusa Dua Convention Center on Tuesday, April 10, 2018.

Jusuf Kalla compared African countries to Wakanda that houses immense untapped natural resources. Kalla also commended Africa by naming the continent as a region with the second fastest economic growth in the world with 3.5 percent economic growth rate.

Furthermore, Kalla said that Indonesia and Africa are sharing the same struggle in the development of infrastructures.

"We do understand that infrastructure development is a must if we want to witness a strong economic growth that can be felt by everyone," Kalla stated.

Jusuf Kalla asserted that the success of an Indonesian-African partnership will be able to prove to the world that cooperation among developed countries can be done.

"I truly believe in the benefits of the South-South Partnership. We are tasked to continue developing it and the spirit to do so must be echoed continuously," said Kalla.
