TEMPO.CO, Depok - Former Jakarta governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok did not get remission of sentence on Indonesia Independence Day, the lawyer I Wayan Sudirta said. The Law and Human Rights Ministry gave remission to 92,816 inmates on the Independence Day.
Ahok is sentenced to two years in prison after being found guilty of blasphemy. He is currently imprisoned in a detention house at the Police Mobile Brigade (Brimob) Headquarters in Depok.
Tempo observed that the Declaration of Independence ceremony at Brimob HQ was held behind closed doors. Two police personnel checked every invitee who came for the event.
The lawyer said that the legal team and family had no plans to visit Ahok today, August 17.
