Three Health Centers in N.Jakarta to Focus on HIV/AIDS Service

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Provincial Government already has three public health centers (puskesmas) to serve people suffered from HIV/AIDS in North Jakarta. These puskesmas are located in Cilincing, Tanjung Priok and Koja sub-districts.
"North Jakarta provides three puskesmas that especially serve HIV/AIDS sufferer," said Jakarta Vice Governor, Djarot Saiful Hidayat, after conducting a work visit to Cilincing Sub-district Puskesmas, Thursday (10/13).
Not only allowed to consult about health, every patient will also be given antiretroviral (ARV) for free. ARV itself is a drug to slow the growth of the HIV virus.
"When suffering HIV/AIDS, the person must take pills (ARV) for a lifetime. It is given for free during the lifetime of patients," he told.
While for Cilincing Puskesmas, also asked to handle HIV/AIDS and malnutrition. Djarot urged, all stakeholders in the puskesmas, must inform each other about malnutrition and HIV/AIDS sufferers.
"This puskesmas must focus on several fields, but we give attention for HIV/AIDS and malnutrition," he stated.
