TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR) and the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) worked together to sell beef. The two men organized a bazaar, selling beef for a price below the market's at just Rp75,000 a kilogram.
MPR Speaker Zulkifli Hasan, his deputy Oesman Sapta Odang, and DPR speaker Ade Komaruddin were even seen serving the buyers.
"Hopefully everyone is happy with an affordable price of Rp75,000 per kilogram," Zulkifli said at the Parliament Building Friday, July 1, 2016.
Ade Komaruddin said that beef are being sold for Rp120,000-Rp130,000 per kilogram in markets. To curb prices, he hopes Bulog can play its role to stabilize food prices.
Meanwhile, MPR deputy speaker Oesman Sapta said the bazaar proves that beef prices can be pushed to below Rp80,000 a kilo.
"Who says beef can't be cheap? This is the prove," he said.
