TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor, Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama said the fault of the sinkhole in the sidewalks along Jalan Sudirman near to Transjakarta Polda Metro Jaya shelter is on the road contractors.
"A lot of contractors never really do their work properly; whenever they dig in sidewalks, they don’t cover the hole properly," said Ahok on Wednesday, November 11.
According to Ahok, many of the contractors repairing the roads and building the sidewalks and streets in the City do not work according to standard.
Ahok stated that goods procurement in Jakarta has not been put in e-catalog since it still have to wait for the auction which will create a long process to fix the damaged sidewalks.
To make it brief, Ahok plans to put sidewalk procurement into Government Goods and Service Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP) e-catalog.
"We’ve used e-catalog for the road; it will be dry in seven hours. Now we’re trying to do the exact thing for the broken sidewalk so it can quickly be fixed," said Ahok.
It is reported that there is sinkhole along 20 meters in the sidewalks near the bridge linking the Transjakarta Polda Metro Jaya shelter accross to Hotel Indonesia Roundabout. Traffic cones are installed around the sinkhole and the broken road to keep it safe for the people passing by.
