TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tedjo Edhy Purdjiatno said that he would facilitate a mediation between Judge Sarpin Rizaldi and Judicial Commission (KY) chairman Suparman Marzuki as well as judicial commissioner Taufiqurrahman Syahuri.

Tedjo claimed that he had contacted the three and expected to meet with them before the Eid al-Fitr holiday.

"But there would be no confrontation since the situation makes it impossible. Direct confrontation between the two sides could make the situation worse," Tedjo said at the State Palace on Wednesday, July 15, 2015.

According to Tedjo, the mediation can be scheduled as long as Sarpin withdraws the report filed with the National Police. Therefore, in a meeting to be held on Thursday, July 16, 2015, Tedjo hopes that that he could persuade Sarpin to withdraw the report so the National Police would stop the investigation without commotion.

Earlier, the National Police's Criminal Investigation Directorate named Suparman and Taufiqurraham as suspects for an alleged defamation towards Sarpin.

Sarpin reported the two to the National Police's Criminal Investigation Directorate in relation to his verdict favoring Comr. Gen. Budi Gunawan pretrial lawsuit. According to Sarpin, Budi Gunawan's suspect-naming was invalid because Budi was not a state official during the suspected corruption, and the KPK could not proved that there were indications of state losses.

Sarpin then was accused of undermining the law because his verdict was not in accordance with the Criminal Code and violated the code of ethics.
