TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) requested the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) and Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) to resolve the feud between the two parties. According to President Jokowi, both parties could actually resolve the issue if they are willing to find a solution together.
In response to Jokowi’s suggestion, Vice Chief of Jakarta Parliament Mohammad says: “This is not just a matter of truce.”
According to Taufik, the dispute between Ahok and the council is caused by Ahok’s behaviour that has violated a procedure. “This is a matter of law,” said Taufik. “Ahok submitted a false document (the 2015 Local-Budget Plan to the Interior Ministry). That is a violation of the statute.”
The council will be firm with the attitude that has been shown so far, said Taufik. One of them is the use of investigation rights towards Ahok. “The President’s suggestion is good, but this is a matter of Law,” he said.
