TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Legislative Council deputy chairman Mohamad Taufik said members of the council will hold a consolidation meeting on Monday, February 16, 2015. According to Taufik, the meeting will be held to decide on a stance toward Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama after the Home Affairs Ministry returned the Regional Regulation on the Jakarta Budget for 2015 fiscal year.
“We will discuss about what [political] rights to be used,” said Taufik.
Taufik revealed that the city council will exercise the rights of interpellation and inquiry since Ahok has violated the law. He said that Ahok did not submit the regional regulation agreed by the city council and the Jakarta administration to the Home Affairs Ministry. In addition, Taufik claimed that Ahok submit a different regional regulation that was not previously discussed with the council.
Taufik added that this issue could lead to an impeachment, which would be not the first time. Taufik said that Ahok has decided to take actions without considering the city council as a partner.
“He has violated the law. He should be impeached,” Taufik said.
Taufik guaranteed that the consolidation meeting will be attended by all members of the city council. Currently, the Jakarta Legislative Council leaders are preparing several issues to be raised at the meeting.
“All council members are committed to attend [the meeting],” Taufik said.
