TEMPO.CO, Baghdad - The Syria National Coalition (SNC) criticized a foreign policy of the United States related to the attack towards the Islamic State (IS) rebels. Head of the SNC Hadi al-Bahra, said that the US was implementing a double standard in handling ISIS in Iraq and Syria.
The US, through the approval of President Barack Obama, launched an airstrike on ISIS in Iraq last week. Al-Bahra requested the US to launch an airstrike against ISIS rebels not only in Iraq, but also in some areas of Syria, such as Aleppo, Raqqa, and Deir ez-Zor.
"It is unbelievable how the international world can turn a blind eye towards the crimes that ISIS has done in Deir ez-Zor and other parts of Syria," he said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), an observer group based in London, England, reported that ISIS has executed 700 people in villages inhabited by the Al-Sheitat tribe in the province of Deir ez-Zor. The SOHR said that the incident occurred in Ghranji, Abu Hamam, and Kashkiyeh village. Most of the captives were beheaded. From the total number of victims, only 100 were claimed to be security officials while the rest were civilians and activists.
