Radar Bolmong

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Press Council Member Nezar Patria criticized a local newspaper Radar Bolmong (Bolaang Mongondow) for posting four sordid pictures on its Tuesday, October 22 edition. He said the pictures violated code of ethics.

"Press Council knew about it and we are requesting the hard cover of the newspaper to be checked," Nezar Patria said earlier this morning. "There are sordid pictures of civil servants who are reportedly having an affair. We will investigate them later."

Press Council demanded Radar Bolmong to make a public apology for spreading these pornographic pictures. "This is clearly a heavy violation and we will reprimand Radar Bolmong," Nezar said. "They have to apologize for what they did."

Nezar said newspaper is not allowed to post pictures that violate the norms. If there are locals who file a report of a pornography indication, Radar Bolmong can be charged for criminal offense.

Regarding sanctions that will be given, Nezar with other Press Council members are looking for the right sanction for the media. "Since the Press Council doesn’t have the right for censorship, we will still consider a sanction until the Press Council receives the hard cover."
