TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) deputy chairman Busyro Muqqodas admitted that the antigraft body is unable to make any move on the people suspected of acting as brokers in the beef import quota graft yet.

"So far, we're still gathering evidence, including unraveling who Bunda Putri is and her role in this case," Busyro told Tempo yesterday.

During the case's trial for defendant Ahmad Fathanah three weeks ago, the prosecutors played a recorded phone call conversation between Luthfi Hasan, Ridwan Hakim and a person called Bunda Putri. In the conversation that took place January 28--one day before Fathanah was arrested for taking receiving Rp1 billion bribe money from beef import company Indoguna Utama--Luthfi mentioned Putri as the person in charge of managing the policy makers.

Fathanah denied ever knowing Putri while Ridwan said he was introduced to her three years ago.

Luthfi's attorney, Muhammad Assegaf, said his client has not provided him with an explanation about Bunda Putri.

KPK deputy chairman Zulkarnain said the commission will investigate the roles of Bunda Putri and other names that were mentioned in the trial. Zulkarnain believes their roles indicate that this case may involve other suspects--people of high ranks and positions.

An investigation conducted by Tempo magazine discovered that Bunda Putri is a nickname for Non Saputri, an entrepreneur and third wife of Director General for Horticulture at the Agriculture Ministry, Hasanuddin Ibrahim. Businessman Bernaldi Djemat confirmed this, saying that he recognized Bunda Putri's voice as Non Saputri's.
