TEMPO.CO, Bogor - General Commander Agus Sutomo from the Special Force Command (Kopassus) ensured that the Indonesian Army Special Counter-Terrorism Squad will soon to be established. The Commander stated that the Army's Counter-Terrorism Squad will work hand-in-hand with the National Police's Special Counter-Terrorism Detachment 88.
Agus explained that the tasks of both counter-terrorism unit will not overlap because each of them has its own legal framework, including the Memorandum of Understanding between the Chief of Police Timur Pradopo, and National Army Commander Moeldoko.
Agus said that the army's plan to establish a special counter-terrorism squad has been around for a while and has nothing to do with recent cases of terrorism. He informed that the squad willconsists of the National Army's elite squads namely the Jala Mangkara Navy Detachment, Bravo 90 Air Force Detachment, and the Army Special Force.
