TEMPO.CO, San Francisco - The messaging application Whatsapp will soon display ads in its ‘Status’ feature for Android newest version 2.18.305, as NDTV reported on October 8.

Earlier, the Wall Street Journal on August revealed that Whatsapp would show ads in the Status section next year. The commercial is supported by Facebook’s ads system and helps familiarise customers on Whatsapp business.

According to WABetaInfo, Whatsapp attempted to implement ads for the Status feature in Whatsapp beta for Android upcoming version 2.18.305. The feature is now inactive and will be ready in the future.

The parent company of Whatsapp, Facebook, determines to monetize Whatsapp which has 450 active daily users. In Whatsapp status, users can share texts, photos, or short videos for 24 hours, similar to Story tool owned by Instagram.

Whatsapp Status first launched in February 2017, inspired by Snapchat Stories. Wall Street Journal reported Whatsapp planned to bring new kind of ads that let users easily send messages to the company via Whatsapp for any customer-service queries.
