TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Greater Jakarta Police deployed 5,670 personnel to secure the 2024 New Year's Eve celebrations in the metropolitan city and its surrounding areas.

During the New.Year's Eve celebrations, the personnel focus their security targets on people, places, objects, and activities.

For the people category, the targets include people celebrating New Year, community organizations, hawkers, security personnel, and criminals.

"As for places, (the security targets are) crowded locations, 12 entertainment stage locations, the Sudirman-Thamrin road, and car-free night routes," he said.

Then, for objects, the targets for security are private vehicles and public transport vehicles, firearms and weapons, alcohol and drugs, and road signs.

Lastly, for the category of activities, the security targets include people's activities ahead of and after the New Year, convoys of vehicles, recreational activities, New Year's Eve activities, as well as activities on social media.

The Greater Jakarta Police appealed to residents of Jakarta and those in its surrounding areas not to carry out convoys during the 2024 New Year's Eve as they can potentially disrupt public order.
