1. Indonesia Govt to Begin MLFF Trial on Mandara Toll Road in Bali This December
The Highways DG at the PUPR Ministry will conduct a multi-lane free flow (MLFF) trial run in December 2023 at Bali Mandara Toll Road in Bali.
"We have prepared the pilot project in Bali this December, the trial will be only be conducted at one gate in Bali," said Highways DG Hendy Rahadian as quoted from Antara today, Friday, Nov. 10.
To start, the trial will be conducted on a small scale before gradually expanding into all operated toll gates. The Highways DG has coordinated with PT Roatex Indonesia Toll System (RITS) to synchronize the systems.
2. Indonesia to Send Rp31.9 Billion Additional Aid to Palestine
The Indonesian government planned to send the second batch of humanitarian aid worth Rp31.9 billion or US$2 million to Palestine next week through the Indonesian Agency for International Development (Indonesian AID).
“The aid consists of medical needs, in the form of medicines and health equipment, that are currently very much needed by the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip,” the Indonesian AID Director Tormarbulang Lumbantobing said in a press statement on Sunday, Nov. 5, 2023.
Lumbantobing said that the second batch of humanitarian aid is part of Indonesia's commitment to help Palestine, as previously conveyed by President Jokowi when chairing the send-off ceremony of the first batch of the humanitarian aid at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base on Saturday, Nov. 4.
3. Indonesian Family Still Stuck in Gaza as Rafah Border Crossing Closed
Efforts to evacuate another Indonesian family trapped in Gaza are still ongoing despite the dangerous situation caused by Israel's bombardment of the enclave since October 7, 2023. Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said today, Nov. 6 that the evacuation has been stalled for the past two days due to the Rafah border crossing with Egypt being closed.
“We received information that the Rafah door was not opened from the Gaza side, so the evacuation was not possible. We will continue to work [towards the evacuation], and yesterday, I contacted various parties to ensure that the Indonesian citizens are in good condition,” Retno said.
