TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) announced that the agency is investigating the corruption allegation involving the Deputy Minister of Law and Human Rights Edward Omar Sharif Hiariej or Eddy Hiariej.
KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri stated that the agency has concluded its preliminary investigation as a follow-up to the reports they received regarding the corruption case. "However, as per KPK's rule, we will publish and name all the suspects when the investigation process is adequate," Ali said on Monday.
For now, KPK still needs more time to process the administrative requirements as well as processing the evidence found. "We will explain the case development further since transparency while handling a case is important for KPK," he added.
Eddy Hiariej was previously reported by the Head of Indonesia Police Watch (IPW) Sugeng Teguh Santoso in March 2023, for nickel bribery allegations amounting to Rp7 billion through two of his assistants, Yosi Andika Mulyadi and Yogi Arie Rukmana.
Ali also stressed that KPK will announce the names of the suspects when the investigation process is deemed adequate.
Initially, Eddi Hiariej denied all allegations of bribery and corruption, citing that it was his assistant's business with Sugeng's clients. "I don't have to entertain the allegation since the problem is between my assistants YAR and YAM as lawyers with Sugeng's clients," he said in a written statement on March 14, 2023.
