TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan or Zulhas officially wrapped up the 38th edition of Trade Expo Indonesia on Sunday, October 22. He said the trade transactions reached US$25.3 billion or Rp401.5 trillion.
“Amid the slowdown of the global economy, the temporary transaction volume for TEI 2023 doubled from last year's transactions due to the cooperation and support of all parties,” Zulhas said at ICE BSD, Tangerang, on Sunday afternoon, October 22.

Zulhas said that TEI 2023's temporary transaction achievements include the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) totaling US$18.31 billion, daily transactions of US$4.17 million, and business matching exploration of US$18.90 million.
In addition, there were investment transactions worth US$2.81 billion, especially investment in the health sector and educational cooperation with China.
He said that 1,232 business people and 32,966 people participated in TEI 2023. The number of visitors consisted of 29,873 offline visitors, 3,162 buyers from 114 countries, and 3,093 online visitors.
He also mentioned that Malaysia recorded the largest transaction of goods and services worth US46.29 billion or 27.95 percent, followed by India with US$6.23 billion or 27.68 percent, China with US$5.58 billion or 24.82 percent, and Vietnam with US$811.28 million or 3.61 percent.
Ten products with the largest transactions include coal at US$13.26 billion or 58.93 percent, chemical and organic products at US$2.92 billion, strategic industries at US$2.73 billion, electronic products at US$612.32 million, processed food at US$449.88 million, agricultural products at US$407.43 million, paper and paper products at US$382.85 million, coffee and tea at US$370.39 million, jewelry at US$280.44 million, and fish and seafood products at US$164.19 million.
In line with TEI 2023, the Jakarta Muslim Fashion Week (JMFW) was held and managed to record transactions of US$20.1 million or Rp330 billion. Zulhas said this proved that Muslim fashion products were in demand in the international market. “If our exports can dominate the world, we can become a developed country in 2045,” he said.
