TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - South Jakarta Sector's Police Sr. Comr. Ade Ary Syam Indradi stated that the explosion that occurred at a house in Setiabudi, South Jakarta this afternoon did not come from a septic tank. The location of the explosion is known to be in a housing complex behind the KPK building.
"It was not a septic tank, we are still investigating," Ade said on October 18 at the scene of the incident, which is an uninhabited house that is being renovated.
Syamsul Arif, head of South Jakarta's Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), said that they received information about the explosion at 13:45.
Comr. Ade said there were four construction workers renovating the house. "The four of them are digging to build a foundation," he said.
When digging, one of the workers found a bright-colored object. The worker had been warned by his colleague to be careful. "But the victim hit the object, which caused an explosion," said Ade.
The explosion was heard up to a distance of about 300 meters. The blast killed one of the workers on site while the other three were injured and taken to the hospital.
The Jakarta Metro Police then sent the Mobile Brigade Bomb Technician to secure the area.
