KPK Collects Corruption Evidence at Agriculture Minister Residence

29 September 2023 20:02 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) searched the residence of Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo from Thursday evening until Friday afternoon, September 29, 2023, for the Minister's alleged corruption involvement.

KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri stated that the commission concluded the search this afternoon, September 29, 2023. "The [search] was related to the alleged corruption case in the Agriculture Ministry as a follow-up to a report. At the beginning of 2023, KPK conducted an initial investigation on the case and found sufficient initial evidence to upgrade the status into thorough investigation," Ali said on Friday, September 29, 2023.

A certain amount of money in the form of Rupiah and foreign currencies was found as initial evidence in the case.

"The investigation team brought a tool to accurately calculate the amount of money found in the search. The team also found several documents and electronic evidence," he added. "The money amounted to billions of rupiah. Additionally, firearms were also found in the scene."

According to Ali Fikri, KPK is currently investigating an alleged corruption case based on Article 12e of the Corruption Law. "With the intention of personal benefit or by misusing authority to force a person to cede something. The [alleged corruption] occurred in the scope of Agriculture Ministry," the KPK spokesperson added.

During the search, the former South Sulawesi governor was visiting the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, Italy.
