TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has called for multinational entrepreneurs and business associates to join the government in handling the COVID-19 pandemic.
In an online meeting held in the Jakarta City Hall, on Thursday, April 28, Anies asked multinational entrepreneurs to help in providing food staple assistance to the underprivileged, during the Large Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) period, geared to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.
"Jakarta has mapped the areas entrepreneurs can choose from to channel their assistance," Anies said at the online meeting.
According to Anies, assistance provided based on the demographic map developed by the Jakarta Provincial Government will ease distribution and avoid overlapping.
Furthermore, Anies has identified three major categories of underprivileged communities set to receive assistance, which are the people who live in poverty zones, the orphaned, and the small communities.
Entrepreneurs, Anies continued, can provide assistance to one of the three underprivileged communities with a number of social assistance packages prepared by the government, such as the food assistance package over the course of one week, at Rp45,000 per day.
“This idea is so that everyone can support each other. Through this collaboration, the economic problems resulting from the COVID-19 outbreak can hopefully be reduced,” added Anies.
