TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura (AP) I optimist that New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA) or Kulon Progo airport in Yogyakarta will start operating on the first April 2019. “We stay optimist the airport ready to operate in 2019, even though the land acquisition has yet finished,” said AP I NYIA project spokesperson Agus Pandu Purnama, in Kulon Progo, Tuesday, February 20.
Agus stated the dynamic compaction has been doing up to 11% for airside airport facility. 92% land clearing has done for the project. “For airside will be finished early since the land flats, besides the detailed engineering design (DED) is ready,” he added.
According to Agus, the landside airport facility is also ready along with developer design. ”basically, development design is set and currently the auction is in the process,” he stated.
Kulon Progo airport has 3,250 meters runway which can accommodate Boeing B-380 aircraft with 544 passengers capacity and B-777 with a capacity of 396 passengers. The long runway design is expected to serve direct flights from Europe.
