TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Islamic Defender Front Muchsin Alatas, allows Deputy Governor of Jakarta Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama to disband his organization. "Please, by all means, if he can," he told Tempo.
Muchsin warned Ahok that FPI will prevail and depose Ahok as Jakarta governor. He claimed that Ahok's statement will only strengthen the bond among the white-caped men.
Muchsin added that FPI has complied to Law No. 17/2013 on Social Organization, and that FPI ideology is not anarchy. "We fight for the right people. The law protects our existence, he said. "Ahok is not a statesman for wanting to disband an organization."
Previously, Ahok said that he plans to disband FPI, who have been involved in violent acts during a protest directed to him. FPI recently made the news headline for its violents acts that injured six police officers during a demonstration last week. "I stand against anarchy," said Ahok, affirming his position.
