TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi on Saturday inspected the Kertajati West Java International Airport (BIJB) in Majalengka, West Java, to check its readiness for the 2024 Eid Homecoming season.
"We were instructed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) that this homecoming must be smooth and have no problems," he said at the airport on Saturday.
During his visit, he and his entourage inspected several facilities at the airport, including the arrival and departure terminals.
After reviewing the facilities, he declared them to be good enough for the Eid homecoming season. He added he believes that the airport will be able to deal with the surge in passengers during the season.
Sumadi invited relevant agencies, such as the National Police (Polri), state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II, toll road managers, and other stakeholders, to draw up a joint scheme to ensure a smooth homecoming this year.
He said that the agencies need to establish collaboration and synergy so that people who travel to their hometowns via the BIJB Airport or other airports can arrive safely and securely.
"As usual, if we work together, the exodus will be smooth," he added, noting that transportation, as the leading sector, needs to collaborate with other sectors for exodus season.
In addition to the airport, the minister reviewed KM 152, the meeting point of vehicles plying on the Cisumdawu and Cipali toll roads.
Further, Sumadi, together with all stakeholders, has prepared measures such as traffic schemes to anticipate problems during homecoming.
"From Cisumdawu to Cipali, this point is likely to have problems, but we have anticipated them, and hopefully, they will be able to be resolved," he explained.
