TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Election Commission’s (KPU) real count as of 11 am today, February 16, indicated that Prabowo Subianto remains on track to win the presidential election. The vote-counting process is still ongoing, and the official outcome is set to be announced on March 20.
Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabumin Raka are currently dominating the race by a wide margin with 31,638,187 votes (56.8 percent). Rivals Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar received 13,994,245 votes (25.15 percent) and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md trailed behind with 10,014,895 votes (18 percent).
According to the KPU's official website, the real count has covered 51.28 percent of the total 823,236 polling stations (TPS).
On Thursday evening, the KPU’s real count as of 6:30 pm showed a narrower margin between Anies and Prabowo’s votes. Anied had 32.02 while Prabowo had 51.26 percent. Ganjar received the lowest vote acquisition with 16.42 percent.
However, the KPU's temporary vote tally page has raised concerns among the public, as it displayed the incorrect conversion of vote data from the real count documents, C-1 Forms. This has sparked off protests, with people demanding transparency and accountability from the KPU.
In response, KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari denied any intention of manipulating the vote count data. He assured the public that the data will be corrected and pledged to ensure that the vote tallying process remains fair and impartial.
