TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasted rain in Jakarta, Serang, Semarang, Surabaya, and Bandung today, Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Coldplay concert-goers are warned to anticipate rain during the concert at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) Main Stadium this evening.
Rain is also forecasted to pour over Yogyakarta, Denpasar, Samarinda, Palangka Raya, Banjarmasin, Gorontalo, and Makassar.
According to BMKG, the 17W tropical cyclone seeds detected in the western part of the Pacific Ocean north of Papua will potentially create hail and tornados in the eastern part of Indonesia. The tropical cyclone seeds move with a maximum velocity of 20 knots and minimum air pressure of 1006.1 millibars.
"We urged the residents of the areas to remain vigilant of tornado and hail potentials related to the strong winds that occurred in this transitional period," said BMKG forecaster Erika.
Erika also warned that the cyclone seeds have the potential to grow into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 hours.
BMKG revealed significant cloud formation occurred in Sumatra, Banten, Central Java, East Jakava, East Kalimantan, and Gorontalo. The agency also released an early warning for strong winds in Aceh, Palembang, and West Java; rain in Aceh and Pekanbaru; and heavy rain with lightning in Medan, Padang, Tanjungpinang, Jambi, and Pangkal Pinang.
