TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Australian Embassy in Jakarta confirmed that Australian Defense Industry Minister, Pat Conroy, will make a working visit to Indonesia this week, following a visit to South Korea.
Conroy was set to meet with the Republic of Korea’s Minister of National Defense, Shin Won-Sik, and the United States Secretary of Defense, Lloyd J. Austin III to discuss security and stability on the Korean peninsula and to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Korean War Armistice Agreement.
“This week I will travel to the Republic of Korea for the Republic of Korea-United Nations Command Member States Defense Ministerial Meeting, and to Indonesia to attend the 10th ASEAN Defense Ministers’ Meeting-Plus,” Conroy said in a press statement.
After leaving Seoul, Conroy will continue his working visit to Indonesia and attend the 10th ASEAN-Plus Defense Ministers' Meeting in Jakarta, which is the region's leading defense dialogue that gathers 18 countries to discuss the challenges facing the Indo-Pacific region.
“I look forward to participating in both forums alongside many of Australia’s regional partners. Deepening defense cooperation with our partners, including by supporting the central role of ASEAN, is crucial to stability, prosperity, and security in the Indo-Pacific,” Conroy said.
In addition to serving as Australia's Minister for Defense Industry, Pat Conroy is a Member of the Australian Parliament for Shortland, New South Wales.
