The Directorate General of Village Governance (Ditjen Bina Pemdes) of the Ministry of Home Affairs continues to strive to enhance the capacity of village officials so that they possess leadership and entrepreneurial management.

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe Directorate General of Village Governance (Ditjen Bina Pemdes) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) hopes that rural development can have a significant impact on the economic recovery and welfare of village communities.

Therefore, Kemendagri, through Ditjen Bina Pemdes, continues to strive to enhance the capacity of village officials so that they possess leadership and entrepreneurial management.

This was conveyed by the Secretary of the Directorate General of Village Governance, Paudah, representing the Secretary General of the Ministry of Home Affairs Suhajar Diantoro, when closing the Capacity Building Training for Village Government Officials in the Village Governance and Development Strengthening Program (P3PD) for the year 2023 in Palembang on Wednesday night, November 8, 2023.

However, Paudah mentioned that there are challenges that must be faced and overcome to ensure that the results of the development can be maximally utilized, and one of them is human resources.

"The improvement of human resources is a necessity to meet the needs of public services to the community. One of the efforts made by the Government is through P3PD," she said.

She explained that currently, there are many examples of successful villages in various fields. However, there are also villages that still face challenges and obstacles in the implementation of village governance and development.

This is evident in the efforts of villages to optimize sources of village income to improve the quality of village spending.

The cause of the poor quality of village spending is the lack of capability of village officials in managing, development planning, financial managing, and legal preparation in the village governance.

Equally important, according to Paudah, is the leadership and entrepreneurial spirit of village officials and administrators of village institutions in managing the potential of the village through village-owned enterprises (BUMDes) that align with the needs of the community.

"The government takes strategic steps in the form of collaborative efforts between ministries and institutions at the central and regional levels through P3PD. The program aims to improve the quality of village spending," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Director of Village Government Capacity Development, Data, and Village Development Evaluation, Mohammad Noval, added that as of the first week of November 2023, a total of 14 provinces have completed the training.

These provinces are West Sumatra, Bengkulu, Riau Islands, Bangka Belitung, East Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, North Sulawesi, West Sulawesi, Gorontalo, South Sulawesi, Yogyakarta, Bali, West Nusa Tenggara, and North Maluku.

Entering the early second week of November, it is noted that three provinces, South Sumatra, Aceh, and North Sumatra, have also completed their training. (*)
