TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State Power Company (PLN) Papua and West Papua Region built a number of oil gas power plants (PLTMG) on a scale of 10-50 megawatts (MW) in several cities in Papua.
PLN Papua and West Papua Communications Analyst Assistant Septian Pujianto said several projects were being carried out, namely the PLTMG Merauke and PLTMG Biak with each capacity of 10 MW.
“There are two places where the PLTMG is already operating, namely the PLTMG Nabire with a capacity of 20 MW and the PLTMG Jayapura with a capacity of 50 MW. In the near future, PLTMG Sorong with a capacity of 50 MW will be operated,” said Septian when contacted from Timika, Papua, Wednesday, 8 August.
PLTMG Timika with a capacity of 50 MW has not built yet because it is waiting for the completion of licensing (Permit to Use Forest Areas) by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
PLTMG construction in several cities in Papua and West Papua, said Septian, is also a form of PLN’s commitment to support the holding of the 20th PON sports event in 2020 that will be held in Papua.
“We make sure the venues that will later become the sports competition arena in PON 2020 have adequate electricity,” said Septian from PLN.
