Jokowi Urges Civil Apparatus Not to Stuck in Sectoral Ego

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo urged state civil apparatus (ASN) not to stuck in sectoral ego and generate collaboration to serve the community.
“I demand civil apparatus in all sectors not to stuck in sectoral ego, organizational ego, and their own program. All issues among the community is cross sectoral and regional [to be solved],” said Jokowi Thursday, November 29, attending the 47th anniversary of the Indonesian Civil Servant Corps (Korpri) in Istora Senayan.
Jokowi hoped ASN could develop their skills to adjust with the global changes, particularly skills that related to technology since the world entered industry revolution 4.0.
According to the president, the industry development continuously eased the ASN duties to serve the public. However, on the other hand, technology demanded quick services. “So, civil apparatus must serve the public by seriously improve the work quality and accountability,” Jokowi remarked.
In addition to collaboration issue and technology usage, Jokowi further reminded the civil apparatus to simplify the work process to improve the service.
At the end of his speech, Jokowi asked ASN to maintain the power to be the agent of change as to strengthen the human resources (SDM). All civil apparatus across the country, he believed, would able to help the transformation of human resources on a large scale.
“The quality of human resources in the governmental and private sector must be improved significantly,” said Jokowi. Thus, it was expected Indonesian SDM could well-respond the rapid changes of the world.
