TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Mandiri has allocated 150 million USD or equal to RP2.2 billion for technology development in 2019. Bank Mandiri president director Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said the budget was set in the same amount as for previous years.
“[We allocate] US$150 million each in the last two years, so within three years we invest for nearly US$400 million,” said Kartika in his office, today, November 14.
Kartika explained the money was used for multiple developments of corporate’s technology. Rather than for application, the investment was allocated for bank’s server and network security, he added.
“This is not future talks, but today’s and it has been implemented,” Kartika said. “This is our challenge, how industry revolution 4.0 changes the banking.”
Other than investment on technology, Kartika continued, the corporate attempted to improve its capability. He said Bank Mandiri was currently applying two banking system, traditional banking and modern, and future banking.
“Banking in this era focuses on how to develop banking digital capability,” he noted.
The state-owned banking company Bank Mandiri planned to launch Mandiri Pay, a QR-code based payment system, on January 2019. The system would be linked to e-wallet, debit and credit card.
