TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -Prior to attending the 33rd ASEAN Summit in Singapore, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo accompanied by First Lady Iriana paid a visit to an Indonesian restaurant located in the Lucky Plaza, Orchard Road, on Tuesday.
The President’s visit to the Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut (Pak Ndut Fried Duck) surprised the Indonesians who were there at the location.
“Yes, we wanted to witness Indonesian cuisines intervene another country. We searched for Indonesian restaurants here and found that there’s Bebek Tepi Sawah, Sari Ratu, and Garuda,” said Jokowi according to the press release from the Presidential Secretariat.
Jokowi even posted a tweet that seemed to jest the lack of his youngest son’s business, Sang Pisang in Singapore.
“Too bad Sang Pisang isn’t here yet,” Jokowi tweeted with a smiley emoji. His youngest son, Kaesang Pangarep was also there with his father during the visit to Singapore.
Something unique also happened while the president was waiting for his order. Jokowi instructed his bodyguard to let in the Indonesians who were outside the restaurant and invited them for lunch together.
One Indonesian citizen who was lucky enough to have lunch together with the President Jokowi was Wiwi Sulandari (38) who ran after the president once she was informed about the president’s visit at Lucky Plaza.
