Previously, President Joko Widodo hoped that the MRT phase II construction that started from Hotel Indonesia Roundabout to Ancol could begin at the beginning of next year and parallel with the construction of the MRT East-West line or Balaraja-Cikarang crossing.

“I also conveyed to the Transportation Minister and the Jakarta Governor to soon build the MRT East-West line; of course after the approval made by the Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD),” Jokowi said.

The president stated that the MRT project has reached 97 percent and is expected to be operational by March 2019.
