TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor will announce the 2019 Jakarta Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) tomorrow, November 1.

“Tomorrow, Mr. Governor will announce the official amount,” said Head of the Manpower and Transmigration Office Andri Yansyah when contacted by Tempo, Wednesday, October 31.

Andri said that his office had given various kinds of subsidies so that the living costs of the workers were still fulfilled even though the 2019 UMP was not as they expected.

The first subsidy is that the workers can access the Transjakarta bus for free by using a Worker Card (KP). The second one is the workers receive food subsidies amounting to Rp196,000 per month.

“Sugar, oil, and milk are also subsidized. All of these items can be bought at Pasar Jaya traditional markets,” Andri said.

The labor proposes an increase in the 2019 UMP to Rp4,373,820.02. The government is still referring to Government Regulation No. 78 of 2015 which regulates the amount of UMP increase is at 8.03 percent, ranging from Rp3,940,973.06. Meanwhile, the businesses ask for an increase of 4.5 percent to 5 percent or Rp3,830,436.

The Chairman of Jakarta Legislative Council or DPRD Commission B Abdurrahman Suhaimi has not been able to provide certainty about the nominal of the 2019 UMP. “We are still holding a meeting to discuss it,” he said.
