TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bangka Belitung Governor Erzaldi Rosman Djohan visited Said Soekanto Police Hospital, East Jakarta, to monitor the process of victim identification of the Lion Air JT 610 crash. A total of 128 Bangka Belitung residents became victims.

“The families of the victims asked to immediately carry out the identification process. Hopefully, it will soon be identified,” Erzaldi said at the Police Hospital on Wednesday, October 31.

Erzaldi said that the families of the victims who were in the Bangka Belitung Islands had been departed to Jakarta for the DNA testing and submitting antemortem data.

“The victim will get compensation by Jasa Raharja of Rp50 million. We know, many families of victims are also domiciled in Jakarta Greater Area,” Erzaldi said.

The Lion Air JT 610 aircraft crashed in Tanjung Karawang waters after taking off from Soekarno Hatta International Airport on Monday morning, October 29, at around 6:33. The aircraft with the Jakarta-Pangkalpinang route carried 189 passengers including 8 cabin crews.

The National Search and Rescue Agency or Basarnas is still searching for victims and the fuselage that allegedly sank. As many as 49 corpses were already in the National Police Hospital to be identified.
