TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bank Rakyat Indonesia ("BRI") explained the issue of the BRI ATM card blocking that went viral on social media. Through its Twitter account @BANKBRI_ID, BRI denied that the card blocking will be implemented by the end of this month.
"BRI confirmed that the issue of blocking automatically the non-chip debit card at the end of October was not true," said BRI on its Twitter account.
BRI urged its customers to replace the non-chip debit card to a chip-equipped debit card, in accordance with Bank Indonesia regulations related to National Chip Technology Standards (SNTC).
"In order to prioritize the convenience of its customers, BRI does not set a deadline for replacing the non-chip debit card to chip debit card," said BRI.
The customers who want to exchange the chip debit card are asked to come to the nearest BRI work unit with a number of requirements such as ID card, passbook and ATM card.
