TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A latest research conducted by UC News Lab together with Cheetab Global Lab suggests that Indonesians use smartphones mainly to consume digital contents in the entertainment sector.

According to the research that was done from September 10 – September 16, 2018, Indonesia’s smartphone users would spend an average time of 1.2 hours each day in search for entertainment-related digital contents.

Their report also states that the average penetration of entertainment applications in Indonesia reached 81.45 percent, which includes sports. Meanwhile, the consumption of contents with entertainment values was 23.07 percent.

UC News Lab also reported that the majority of smartphone users in Indonesia tend to access articles with images rather than the ones with videos since Indonesia’s internet still lacks the speed compared to other countries.
