TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police will launch an investigation over reports that activist Ratna Sarumpaet was physically assaulted, which is allegedly a lie. The public demand that the police reveal who are the people behind the alleged false report.
The Jakarta Metro Police's director for general crimes division, Sr. Comr. Nico Afinta, said on Wednesday that the police have received three reports asking the police to investigate the alleged false news--charging ut article 28 of the Information and Electronic Transaction Law.

Nico added that the Jakarta Metro Police are joining forces with the National Police Headquarters to find juridical evidence over the reports of Ratna's physical abuse.
On social media, there were posts that Ratna was beaten by a number of unknown men near Bandung's Husein Sastranegara Airport in Sep. 21.
The posts went viral as they came with photos of Ratna Sarumpaet's swollen face--supposedly because of the beating.
So far, the police found no evidence of the assault, and they suspect it actually never happened.
