Jokowi Assures Asian Para Games Bonus are Equal to Asian Games

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo assured that athletes participating in the 2018 Asian Para Games will receive the same bonus as the Asian Games athletes have received. Gold medalists will earn up to Rp1.5 billion and an offer to become a civil servant (PNS).

“I mentioned it before, there will be no differences in terms of bonuses,” said Jokowi today at the Gelora Bung Karno Arena, Jakarta.

Jokowi said that Finance Minister Sri Mulyani is still formulating the duration of upon handing out the bonuses however, the president hopes that the athletes will receive their rightful bonus before the Asian Para Games 2018 closing ceremony.

In the case of the Asian Games 2018, athletes’ bonus were given exactly one day before the event’s closing ceremony where Indonesia ranked fourth overall with 31 gold medals, 24 silver medals, and 43 bronze.

The bonuses given to 2018 Asian Para Games medalists in singles start from Rp1.5 billion for gold medalists, Rp500 million for silver medalists, and Rp200 million for bronze medalists. Doubles can earn up to Rp1 billion for gold medalists, while teams can earn bonuses up to Rp750 million for gold medalists.
