TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As of today, Sept. 26, Yenny Wahid has officially declared her support for presidential and vice presidential hopefuls Joko Widodo or Jokowi-Ma`ruf Amin for the upcoming 2019 presidential election.
Yenny`s support toward the incumbent presidential candidate could be identified in the second paragraph of her speech prior to stating the obvious. Yenny quoted Imam Syafei’s words which state that a leader’s position and their connection with their citizen is similar to guardian parent to an orphan.

“The close relationship with their citizens can only be built when a leader is able to think simple. That they are tasked none other than to present justice and equality,” said Gus Dur’s daughter in her speech.
Yenny argued that the country is in need of a leader that would share the people’s struggle and does not distant himself with the people. “A leader that would not think twice to hug his citizen and together share the smell of their sweat,” she said.
Based on the aforementioned leadership traits, Yenny Wahid decided to give her support for Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin presidential and vice presidential hopefuls.
