KPU to Determine Candidates for 2019 Presidential Election

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - General Election Commission (KPU) will determine the presidential and vice presidential candidates for the 2019 Presidential Election today, Thursday, September 20.
KPU will also invite the representatives from the supporting coalition parties. “The Liaison Officer (LO) of the political parties will attend,” said KPU Commissioner Pramono Ubaid Tanthowi at the KPU office, Jakarta, Wednesday, September 19.
Based on the KPU schedule, the campaign period starts on Sunday, September 23 to April 13, 2019. After that, the candidate pair will enter the quiet period. It also applies to legislative candidates who will compete in the 2019 Legislative Election.
Based on KPU Regulation No. 5 of 2018 concerning the Amendment of PKPU No. 7 of 2017 concerning Stages, Programs and Schedules of the 2019 Election, the following is the timeline:
- Determination of presidential and vice presidential pairs: September 20
- Determination of serial number of presidential and vice presidential pairs: 21 September
- Campaign of DPR, DPD and DPRD candidates, as well as presidential and vice presidential pairs: 23 September-13 April 2019
- Quiet period of campaign: April 14-16
- KPU hold the voting on April 17, 2019
