Tito Karnavian Reminds Police Officers to be Neutral in Election

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police Chief Tito Karnavian appealed to all police officers to be neutral in the general election and presidential election next year.
He instructed all his staffers to maintain the neutrality by not taking a photo with the candidate and joining the campaign.
“If a police member violates the rule, we will give sanction starting from a reprimand, demotion or mutation, to termination,” said Tito in a police coordination meeting at PTIK, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 13.
The National Police and Indonesian Armed Force (TNI) held the meeting regarding the preparation of 2019 General and Presidential Election. “We establish the meeting to synchronize the vision, mission, and perception,” Tito explained.

The security operation would be carried out in all steps of the 2019 election, including the legislative election, presidential election, campaign period, election silence, and voting calculation.
Other than the neutrality issue, Tito Karnavian mentioned the meeting talked on the plan of joint operation and synergy in each Regional Police (Polda) and Regional Military Command (Komdam Jaya).
Besides coordination with TNI, the National Police called on all public figures, mass organizations, and other parties to support the operation, “in a bid to create a peaceful and secure election so as to vote a good leader,” Tito added.
Attending the meeting were all regional police head throughout Indonesian regions and Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo.
