TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fruits and vegetables play a vital role in the body health. Here, Tempo summarized several fruits and vegetables that are good for your heart, liver, and kidney, as follows:

1. Heart

A healthy heart is related to the blood pressure and cholesterol. A professor of nutrition at the University of Vermont, Rachel Johnson, Ph.D., R.D., said other than salmon, fruit, vegetables, and nuts that are good to reduce the risk of heart disease, walnuts, beans, dark chocolate, and avocados are also recommended.

2. Liver

The role of the liver is related to body metabolism. If the liver cannot properly working, it will cause liver failure since it does not remove harmful substances from the body.

A nutritionist and founder of the detox program Pure Change in New York Dr. Charles Passler explained one of the great food to help detoxify the liver is garlic. “Eating garlic helps activate the liver detox enzymes,” he said, adding another fruits and vegetables such as beets and broccoli.

3. Kidney

Abhijit Adhye, a specialist of internal medicine physician at St. Joseph Health Medical Group, US, said kidney plays an important role to help cleanse the blood, and stabilize water and minerals in the body.

According to Abhijit, red bell peppers and cabbage are super foods for your kidney. “Red bell peppers are low in potassium and rich in antioxidants, while cabbage is loaded with phytochemicals, the compounds that work against free radicals that lead to inflammation,” he explained.
