Jokowi Appoints Erick Thohir, Prabowo: We Have Our Own Way

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto said his coalition has its own way to set a campaign team for the 2019 election. Gerindra patron chief claimed he did not intend to refer to Jokowi-Ma`ruf Amin who appointed Erick Thohir as their campaign team leader.
“We don’t deliberately wait and see them. We have our own way,” said Prabowo at his residence, South Jakarta, Friday, September 7.
Prabowo delivered comments on the chosen young entrepreneur Erick Thohir as Jokowi-Ma’ruf campaign team leader who –according to Ma’ruf– represents the millennial generation.

Asked about the possibility to select his campaign team leader from ulema, considering millennials had represented by Sandiaga Uno, Prabowo explained the team and his running mate would represent all generations. He remained tight-lipped on the names listed in his team structure.
“There is no problem, we have our calculation and considerations. Our desire is for the public interest,” he added.
Meanwhile, Gerindra party secretary-general Fadli Zon said the party coalition supporting Prabowo-Sandiaga would not be affected by the determination of Erick Thohir as the leader of National Campaign Team of Jokowi-Ma’ruf. He underlined the decision would not change the constellation of his campaign team.
